9/13 - jacksonville dive conditions

Message from rusty diver.

Diving Forecast for Saturday 9/13/08. Went to nine mile reef seas 2-3 feet visibility was about 30ft. Jelly fish are gone and the ocean is starting to clear up from the storms. Went down 80 ft to some barges at nine mile reef and saw huge schools of amber jacks that we speared. Lots of spade fish and mango snapper, some grouper but not many. A lot of barracuda watching you every move they wouldn't move for nothing. also saw lion fish which was very rare seeing they are from indian ocean. no lobster sightings yet.

Here is a report from the Marisa D as of 9/7:

"Stay at home thursday Earl, this one is gonna take a while to settle. vis was 4 inches at EEF and 2-3 foot at BR on Sunday. Water is green and blacked out on the bottom. No thermo"

Jacksonville/Fernandina Dive Report

From Spearboard.com, not great news at all:

Jud and myself went out of Fernandina Beach today and the viz sucks.
Our first dive was in 80ft about 19 miles out and the viz was 2ft.
Our second dive was at AH and we got about 8ft of viz with no fish to show for it. I did find one nice lobster about 3lb but she was louded with eggs and was released unharmed.
Our final dive was on the FA Tug and I hit the bottom with my mask and still could not see it without a flashlight.
The only thing good about the day is I was diving with a friend and the seas were 2 feet or less all day. Hopefully things will clean up soon.
